Cabaret Hommage à Patch Adams
PATCH ADAMS
Hunter "Patch" Adams is an American doctor who founded the Gesundheit Institute in 1971. His life and work inspired the 1998 Hollywood film Patch Adams starring Robin Williams.
Adams' revolutionary ideas about medicine and healthcare are centred around the belief that love and compassion are as necessary to health and healing as conventional medicinal practices.
Through his work at the Gesundheit Institute, Dr. Patch has cared for more than 25,000 people for free, focussing particularly on people who have no access to health care or insurance. To him, joy and happiness are choices you can make every day. Blessed with great charisma, his extravagant outfits are a clue to his extraordinary nature.
FRANÇOIS YO GOURD: HYSTERICAL HOST
François Gourd made his name in Montreal as the co-founder of Foufounes Électriques in the 1970s. Following that, he was the founder of the Symfolium, Université de Foulosophie - an annual 10-day conference that brings together foulosophes (loosely translated as lovers of lunacy) from 20 countries to discuss such themes as the madness of creativity and the folly of wisdom.
An activist concerned with humanitarian causes both political and cultural, Gourd invites us to reflect on the human condition in order to re-establish a balance between reason and the imagination.
