The Hong Kong Ballet
For one of its rare visits to Canada, The Hong Kong Ballet presents two original works and one classic from the contemporary repertory.
“Black on Black” is an intriguing and passionate work created especially for HKB by Chinese-Canadian choreographer Kinsun Chan. In it, he explores the symbolism and contradictions of the most mythical and timeless colour.
“Luminous,” by Canadian Peter Quanz, is a choreographed reflection on the fragility of human relations, the tensions between men and women, and the compelling attraction of newness. A disturbing work filled with emotion and sensuality.
For its last act, the Company presents “Symphony in Three Movements” by Dutch choreographer Nils Christe. This forceful neo-classical work, inspired by the torments of war, is set to the music of Stravinsky.
